What means did she use? What were her tactics and Strategies?
When Jane Goodall was observing the chimpanzees in Gombe she had to use good tactics and strategies to obtain her data. If she was to really get into the life of the chimps she had to be up close. She discovered by gaining their trust they let her sit among them. Goodall gained their trust by following them, and each time moving a little closer until she could assemble next to them.
Goodall observed, that chimpanzees use simple tools, such as twigs or grasses. The discovery of tool use over ruled the scientific definition of human beings as the only animal that uses tools. With all of Goodall’s interpretations of chimpanzee life, Dr. Leakey thought it would be best if she got her doctorate degree in Cambridge University to give scientific weight to her discoveries. With a doctorate degree, her information would be more legitimate.
A strategy Jane ued to get the best possible date she could was quiet simple, have patience. With her patience brought her new discoveries about behaviors and social relations of chimpanzees. Her study still holds the record for being the longest uninterruped field study.
